Class Code Summary:

Florida Workers Comp class code 9402 is applied to specialist contractors or municipal employees engaged in street cleaning. The cleaning may be performed by either manual or mechanical means such as the use of mechanical sweepers.  Streets may also be cleaned by water sprinkling trucks.

In addition, class code 9402 also includes the spray cleaning of interior tunnel walls, the clearing of snow from public or private parking lots, streets, or roads, beach and shoreline cleaning (both routine and from oil spills), power sweeping of parking lots, outdoor spraying for mosquito or insect control (not related to farms or irrigation systems), municipal employees who clean mainline sewers, storm sewers, and street mains, inspection and sealing operations for sewers, specialists that clean septic tanks or cesspools using vacuum pump trucks, those who rent, deliver, install, and service portable toilets, and businesses that operate tank trucks equipped with pumps that are used to pick up oil and water at sites other than oil well sites.

Code 9402 contemplates routine beach or shoreline cleaning as well as beach or shoreline cleaning made necessary due to oil spills. This includes the onshore cleaning of rocks with hot water under pressure alongside banks or shores of waterways where oil spills have reached land.
